Mr. W.I. Fleetwood established the Fleetwood Memorial Foundation in 1974 out of gratitude and respect for the men and women of Texas who dedicates their lives to the safety of the public. The Fleetwood Memorial Foundation Fund became part of the North Texas Community Foundation November 1, 2012.
The Fleetwood Memorial Foundation Fund is intended to offer immediate financial assistance to Texas families or personnel (Texas Peace Officers/ Texas Firefighters) who have been injured or killed in the line of duty. The fund may also assist with educational expenditures accrued to retrain injured Texas Peace Officers/Texas Firefighters or their dependents working towards the completion of their first undergraduate degree.
Over the past 38 years, the Fleetwood Foundation has provided grants of more than $4 million to Texas Peace Officers and Firefighters and their families. Applications for the Fleetwood Grants may be made by any Texas peace officer or fire fighter agency, on behalf of qualified personnel injured or killed in the performance of their duty.
